Traveling Europe consts money. For salary employee,consumption in Euope is a not easy thing. Normally tourist will book a hotel and all the tansportation ticket prior to leave home. However, I think we can use different way to do that, it may save money.
I have tried that travel with train from Germany to Spain without book hotel in internet. In europe, the big citys always have Info where can help tourist with transpotation and accomdation. you can just go there and ask if there is hotel and hostel in that city. you will have a lot choice and it has better you order a room through internet.
If you travel in winter, you can get more discount, beacuse sometime the hotel or hostel have many empty rooms, it could be cheaper than normal price.

if i plan to visit italy for a fortnight,how much money shall i prepare at least?
Travel to Italy, we do not need to book a hotel. Normally we only stay for one or two days in one city, then get night train to next city, it is cheaper. But we can stay in Rome three days , it is enough. Further, do not live in out side center of city, it is not safe for asian girls.
